Koa is native only to Hawaii and grows especially at the higher elevations of Maui. Bob Taylor has worked for many years to to make Koa available and sustainable. One of his latest projects is to designate 1,600 acres for cultivation of thousands of Koa tree for many years to come. This effort allows Taylor Guitars to harvest “at risk” trees that ate dying due to disease. This wood can thus have a new life being crafted into a wonderful musical instrument, designed and built to last a lifetime.
